It would appear as if she was aware for 30 years of a sibling's  child sex abuse activities and said no kinds of anything to anybody. So,what would appropriate punitive measures be? Strip her of the Eurovision win? Remove her from old editions of Top of the Pops? Bar her from political life?

Imagine the uproar there would be on this board if a senior catholic cleric faced similar allegations?

Here we go again.

You clearly enjoy the shit that you bring upon yourself/ the catholic church.

Force her to listen to her own music?

Stop using child abuse to score points Tony.

He is actually using child abuse to defend other child abuse.

And worse still she said her brother had been 'cured' by a visit to a priest, oh the irony Dana, you deluded clown.

This is not the same as he hiding of abuse by priests, in so far as when it is a sibling such as in the Adams case, dealing with it brings all sorts of pressures and loyalties into play. Easy to judge from the outside with out the full facts. I am not defending the cover up, just pointing up that Dana is human like us all.

The maddest part of all that was after he was "cured", a few years later he abused the poor girl again when on a family visit.  How her family could have left him alone with her after knowing what happened is mental.  I cannot fathom doing that.

Dana behaved like the vast majority of people of this time..........like a deluded clown

The sacrament of penance was a great conscious clearer in the past. The zeitgeist was to throw that burden over the wall to the great almighty rather than do 'the right thing'. It isn't any more, when wrong doings have such a serious negative impact on the lives of others. That's progress.

Hmm. Are you saying there is a higher instance of people shopping their siblings than there once was? I would imagine it's true, but I doubt it's as cut-and-dried as you seem to be implying.

Nothing clear cut about it deiseach, but our society is evolving in a positive direction when more people turn away from religion to make them feel better (get out of jail freee) for their wrong doings

Its my assertion that more and more, the sacrament of penance doesn't any more absolve people from examining their conscience. As a result more people do the right thing and report or encourage/give support to victims who report regardless of the obvious embarrassment to themselves.
