But you know what, our clubs were more than happy with it, the same CB was returned unopposed at the next AGM. SE you mention Gribben, he has to get a special mention to, Harry Gribben (another CB man ), was apparently his friend at one point. He was with Coleman when he won minor All Ireland with Derry and then went to the U21 final as well as the sen win in 93. Who needs enemies when you have friends like that

in summary, it really must go down as one of the worst / most ludicrous decisions made by a CB in any county

+1

I'd go as far to say one of the most spiteful decisions as well as the worst / most ludicrous.

southdown

Linden was a class act, on fire that day.  His first half performance will take some beating by any corner forward.

Bensars

There was a book doing the rounds a few years ago on Eamon. Does anyone know the name, publisher etc , or where i could get a copy ?

At least none of the people who are unhappy with Mickey Harte appear to be on the County Board. The keyboard warriors can't get rid of him.

yessir, MH would have been shown the door after the Mayo match in 2004. No need to strengthen the stitching in the back pockets

I was at that match. Some great players on both sides. It was great following Down for the rest of the season- I got to see them in the final as well.

Wildweasel74

that was a strange year when colman got the road, my own club maybe didn't even vote as they were junior at the time and automatically presumed he be back in, this happened with a few other of the smaller clubs too, the county board was dominated by men from senior clubs, i would have said most of the junior and intermediate clubs were with Colman but many probably didn't even realise what would have happened. We were not far from Ballymaguiagan and most clubs in that area were not happy with it.

That county board back then didn't like Colman getting all the praise, especially as a previous mentioned county board member hit Henry downey down in meath at a challenge game i was at, before the semi against Dublin. The fact that a very good team was flushed down the down didn't worry some of those on the board.

Linden was one of the all time greats, a class act and a joy to watch.

Watched the game last week on Tg4  and was amazed at how Derry lost the game, they controlled most of the second half and only for some bad decision making/shot selection they would have won well

Down were gutsy and showed great character to come away with the result

Coleman was a great Derry manager but never got treated with the respect from the Derry County Board that he deserved

For many are called, but few are chosen.
