Was chatting to a sports journalist today who says the Italian organisers, while being delighted with the huge crowds and enthusiasm of the general public, had an issue with poor road surfaces and with manhole covers to which they attributed five serious injuries including a broken hip! (Ouch) He also said the terrible weather resulted in constant complaints from cyclists and teams although given that they're going to cycle over the Alps I find this hard enough to credit!
Who's a bit of a moaning Michael tonight!

It's a good job they didn't go through Cavan then.

There were a lot of complaints about the constant showers as they were getting soaked and dried out and replacing gear wheras in "typical" bad weather they can gear up. Apparently the repetitive soakings will leave them susceptible to chest infections etc.

Well then f... off and don't come back, ye whinging shower of b.......

Not the first people not to return to Our Wee Country because of the different showers they encountered there.

Carnage at the end of today's flat stage, caused by rain funnily enough. Full stage was neutralised by the peleton because of safety fears over the weather, they didn't race until the last lap of today's short stage.

I'd be of the same view myself if that's really the truth.
