Sad day for football to see him retire, was really a class act.

I guess it should be noted that his wife on Twitter is saying he's not retiring. He just needs time to get himself right after he had surgery over the Winter. So no football this year but he may be back. Only time will tell.

Maroon Manc

Such a shame injuries have curtailed his career, ability wise he was up there with the Gooch. If he was a couple of years older he'd have at least 2 All Ireland's in his back pocket.

The outlets that reported it as a retirement have very little journalistic integrity.

Hate those sort of comments. If it's not your time it's not your time.

The training commitments are very heavy and he probably needs to take it easy so fair play to him.
Galway are not going to win the All Ireland this year anyway.
Hopefully Mayo can do it for Connacht.

Hopefully his injuries will not curtail him in later life. Would love to see him playing again injury free but seems unlikely.

Could have been up there with Gooch. Wonderful talent.

He was the dominant player on the pitch in the deluge against Kerry in Croker, was it 2007?
