It's almost as if internment is too much of an embarrassment to allow him to speak about it.

Danny Morrison@molloy1916 8h
prohibited from speaking publicly or writing for any publication, and barred from certain areas- SA apartheid Internal Security Act. M Corey

It is an absolute disgrace that someone jailed fr 4 years with out any evidence being presented, without being charged, without a trial etc.

If it was anywhere else in the UK there would have been a public outcry, but not NI - they can get away with it over here.

Martin Corey should still take his case to the Europe, as they were planning to do, it needs to be investigated and the Brits need to be told they cannot do it again.

Another example of the screwed up excuse for a makey-uppy state this is. Intern someone without trial, release him after four years and censor him from speaking about it or from living in his own home.

+1.
Was it a case of getting info from some informer and they wanted to keep it quiet knowing that if they made the info public everyone would know who the tout was???
Mind you if these "Dissidents" got off the stage it would help.

Since 2008 when the law on sentencing was changed there has been an ever increasing number of recalls made.  The law requires an individual to have either breached the conditions of their licence or failed to engage with those conditions.  Once an individual is recalled they are referred to the Parole Commissioners (who are independent) to establish if the conditions for recall have been met and if continued detention is necessary to protect the public.  These hearings take place in private.  In the event an individual has met the conditions and continued detention is necessary then the case is reviewed at least annually.  I would be shocked if that hadn't been done in the case of Corey and I am sure his lawyers would have challenged it if it hadn't.  The fact they haven't suggests to me that Corey was subject to this procedure and wasn't as being suggested interned.  His imprisonment stems from his original conviction

Long story short, Martin Corey (a man who served out his original 19 year sentence) yet four years ago was arrested and locked up without trial or evidence for anything. A judge in 2012 (Judge Treacy), went as far as to order his release on the grounds that he had seen no reason to support his continued detention, yet this was overturned after an intervention by the british secretary of state (and backed on appeal, by british government appointed judges), and again on the grounds of unknown evidence and with the stated reason of "it is a matter of national security", a term which is not a legally defined term in British or European law. He was imprisoned without trial. He was interned.

So he served out his minimum term of a life sentence not his entire sentence then had at least two sets of parole commissioners procedures as well as court cases in the high court, court of appeal and Supreme Court. I am still struggling to see how that amounts to internment. Don't get me wrong I do not agree from my knowledge of the case that he should have been recalled and I have severe and well documented concerns over the compatability of the procedure and other recall procedures with Human Rights Law but I'm fed up with the sensationalisation that Corry was locked up with no judicial oversight for 4 years and no charges which is simply not true.

David, has any other person served 19 years of a life sentence? How many loylalist killers have served that long? Martin Corey was detained at the behest of a vindictive  establishment with out any evidence being brought forward against him. The reason given was "national security"
How is any one going to defend that sweeping statement, he was freed by a judge in the High court, and detained again before he left the courtroom,Can you justify that.the brits wont.
