We are off to Paris at the end of October for 3 days and looking at staying in a self catering apartment perhaps as opposed to a hotel.

Four of us - meself and Mrs Shore and two junior Shore girls aged 12 and 10.

Anyone know of a nice reasonably priced apartment in a good area of Paris that would suit us. Near Metro, away from seedy areas, near a nice Boulanger to buy the morning pain etc.

Thanks in advance.

Not much help I'm afraid but I used booking.com to book a serviced apartment in London earlier this year (and it was very good).  I see from a quick look at the website that they've nearly 600 such premises on the books in or around Paris.

Probably no use to you, but i stayed in a very good small hotel, L'Hotel Brittanique, just beside the Pont Neuf, walking distance to the Louvre, Notre Dame, Rue St. Germain etc, nice little cafe round the corner for the petit dejeuner. Might be an option if the apartment idea doesn't work out - cosy and friendly place (though it was five years ago).

I have not stayed there myself but friends of mine have stayed in this hotel and recommended it to others so it must be ok.  It is well placed but not cheap  - you wont get a cheap place in this central location
