Really nice win from a Tyrone perspective. Darren and Conor both excelled and will benefit from this experience. Ronan came in and made an impact, Kyle to a lesser extent.

As regards the defence though (wasn't at the game listened to newstalk) are we any the wiser with Danny McBride and Ryan McKenna at the back? Nice introduction for the pair and they each have their talents and strengths.

Dissapointed Mickey didn't give Conan Grugan 20mins. Big Prospect.

We've options though and I'm looking forward to the next day. Would like to avoid Down.

Aaron Boone

Very good win today. From start to finish, only one team.

Tyrone can sleep well tonite.

Shamrock Shore

Speaking of sleep Tyrone bus passed through Edgeworthstown in Longford this evening as I made my way back to the parent's house after the Longford match.

Sean Cavanagh was fast asleep in the back. He could have been fast asleep today on the pitch and Tyrone would still have won.

Shame to see Offaly so poor now. Has any county fallen further from the top table in the past 40 years?

ONeill

Mickey would've learned zilch from that.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

I thought Down in 2009 was the last seen of that sort of debacle. I didn't expect an offaly win but that's just inexcusable. Apologies to all Tyronies who made the journey down. I hope ye at least have a good night in Tullamore. Sad day to be a proud Offaly man, but I am proud to be an Offaly man. This ship can be righted and it will be but its a long road. Sometimes this sort of thing can be a cathartis though. One can hope.

Don't want to sound patronising, and I always enjoy trips to Tullamore, as I did yesterday, and I know Offaly were very poor, but to be fair the team did try hard, the defeat wasn't down to lack of effort, it was down to lack of quality, it just isn't there in Offaly at the moment, but Offaly aren't the only county in that situation

In fairness Offaly gave a better account of themselves against Kildare. All the top sides have quality however if you lose by twenty two points it more about the lack of effort and poor attitude from the opponents than anything else.

This is going to sound incredibly cocky here but unless we face Kildare/Dublin/Down/Derry (Derry at a stretch) over the next two rounds we won't learn anything that will help us versus the big guns in the QFs. There is such a gap between the top 5/6 and the rest that the qualifiers are a means to an end. The only goal is getting to Croke Park with as little injuries as possible.

Cue us drawing Roscommon and getting hammered in the Hyde!

Not patronising, but I think you are not especially accurate either. There have been various injuries and defections, but there is no way they should be down 0-15 to 0-1 at half time. Or 0-14 to 0-0 just before that. I could nearly stomach if it was 3-6 to 0-1.

Tyrone had loads of changes as well, but the difference is their lads were fired up and hungry to prove themselves. Our lads were sorry for themselves, had no belief and wanted out of there. To me that's a failing of management and of the players themselves. I also feel that the drafting in of 4 hurlers can't exactly have boosted the spirits of the lads that *have* stuck around. If I was #24 on that panel yesterday and saw Daniel Currams coming on, I think I'd be wondering what the hell was going on.

Football is a game today where if you do not have proper application and preparation you are going to be blown away by good teams. That's what happened yesterday. That's what happened Westmeath against Dublin, and Tipperary against Kerry. None of those sides even threatened to raise a gallop against the opposition and that is not good enough. Offaly were obviously up against it yesterday, but the least you expect is that they are prepared, and that they have a bloody honest go.

Bord na Mona man

Hugely disappointing day on Saturday.
The score could actually have been worse if Tyrone didn't ease back a bit in the 2nd half.

First off, I naively thought that Offaly, despite all the missing players could at least give this game a decent tilt.
Tyrone might be a another step ahead of Kildare, but Offaly had home advantage and Tyrone were missing starters also. Division 3 or 4 team don't automatically lose by 20 to 30 points to Div 1 teams as some might suggest.

If Offaly were to make it anyway interesting a whirlwind start was needed. Get a couple of early scores, give the players something to chase
Unfortunately Tyrone had the strong breeze in the first half. Offaly had to try running the ball into the wind and this was a bit of disaster. A few early moves broke down with sloppy Offaly handpasses and Tyrone broke downfield with ease for handy scores. It was already alarming at this stage how easily Tyrone cut through the Offaly cover.

After 10 minutes several Offaly players already had the demeanour of beaten players and it was clear an utter rout was on the cards. It was a footballing lesson after that. It was painful to see the pace at which Tyrone moved with the ball, the quick hands, their movement off the ball and the physique of their players. There were times when Offaly players couldn't even get close enough to foul a player, never mind try and tackle.

Progress has been made this year, but this was another reminder of where the top teams are really at.
Even it the panel does all the right training for 7 or 8 months, this gets undermined if a dozen players need to be drafted in the summer months.
I can see a good few changes in the panel for next year. The management might heave learned a lot about the league during the league campaign, but they also learned a lot more about certain players since then.
