Depending on what you read, the G8 was either a complete failure or a total success.

The spin doctors were busy.

Without China, Brazil and India on board it really isn't worth all the hassle, for f**k sake Italy can't scratch its own arse at the minute.

@JakeOKane It must be sobering for what passes for politicians here to meet the leaders of the G8. A bit like a KFC cook meeting Gordon Ramsay.

Ha ha his Da was some politician.

Could somebody inform the PSNI that the G8 is over. Still serious security about!

They must be searching for the over time bonuses.

Heard on the radio this morning that when the G8 was in Scotland it brought in 600M added revenue during and after the event. Wonder how they work this out?

Some waste of money here - £20m down the swanny.

The bill for hosting last month's two-day G8 summit in Fermanagh was £80m, the Finance Minister Sammy Wilson has told the Northern Ireland Assembly.

Most of it, £75m, was for policing and security-related costs.

An additional £5m funded things like road improvements around Enniskillen, publicity campaigns and increased staffing at hospitals during the summit.

London has agreed to pay £60m of the total bill.

Mr Wilson said: "The most important thing is we delivered a safe and secure event. Of course, this did not come free.

"We must recognise that the G8 event has the potential to generate huge economic benefits to Northern Ireland."

Of the £80 million, lets say £5 million went to police drafted in from overseas foreign countries like England. So that money is gone.

Another £15m went as revenue and profit to businesses from overseas foreign countries like England. So that money is gone.

The rest was spent on local people and local businesses. Assume about a half will spend their overtime bonus on foreign holidays to Scotland or Isle of Man.

That means £30m will find its way back in to the Irish economy.
