Please sign the petition above to stop the minority ruling the majority! The persistant denial of development in the west is corruption at it's finest and a message needs to be sent.

Oak its the bloody politicans who need to be shoutin about this. I notice that when the AA5 where giving out about this road the local papers where 2-3 pages a week on it, now that it rejected there is hardly half a page to help voice our sides opinion. The whole thing sickens me that these showers of c***ts can do this. That is why this place will never move on. Any chance the prods get to tr**p over us they will use it.

Sectarian bigotry?  That's the way to win people over. Anything happens you don't like its the fecking prods fault.  Grow up FFS.

I think it can't be denied that the sabotage of the A5 project is partly due to an agenda of not developing the west of the north. The attachment above is an Ulster Unionist Party manifesto from 2011. The second bullet point in P.19 reads that they will carry out:

"An urgent review of the decision to commit over 50% of DRD's next budget to a road
from Donegal to Dublin. We advocate a refocusing on the need to commission the A2
project at Greenisland, rather than the A5 Western Transport Corridor;"

I don't think it really helps playing the sectarian card here. If for nothing else, than it takes away from your argument. Instead, we should be focusing on why the A5 needs duelling not why it doesn't.

"Myself & a few members of the 'Action for the A5' group are meeting for a coffee in the Cafe Weir, Strule Arts Centre this Thursday at 1pm. If you have any ideas for the campaign, feel free to join us."

- Prof. Pat Darcy, Action for the A5 Spokesperson

I'm not Professor Pat Darcy by the way, lol.

I have signed but I get the feeling this might be too little too late. I hope I'm wrong.

I believe it is Pat Darcy, former Tyrone GAA chairman, as I think I've seen him in pictures recently.

It is him ok.

I've signed it, but as I've said before, I can't see this having much affect.
It may be useful to have a group to get media attention in 12months time and lobby the DRD minister to make sure their finances are allocated to the A5.

The main thing we should be giving out about right now is why hadn't the habitats stuff been completed before planning was submitted?, and how in the hell did it make it through the public inquiry without being noticed?
Whoevers role it was within DRD to tick all the boxes before submitting planning should have got the sack by now. They haven't done their job, and have cost us millions. Some of you may think it was ignored on purpose knowing that it would stall the project at a later stage..... I hope not, because the project should still go ahead.

Danny Kennedy has taken a lot of slack locally for not challenging the judges decision, but afaik, its a European ruling, so the AA5A would surely have taken it to the European Courts delaying it even further? And they'd definitely insisted in the habitats stuff being completed first!

Heads should roll for this. Also IMHO I think the first thing that should be done is to fully address any environmental issues that are of concern. Then build the road. The people who were against the road won this debate because this issue was not sorted, not because they proved that there was no  need for the road. Its also time that our local politicians delivered for the people of this area.

Exactly!
Many seem to be under the impression the AA5A have 'won'. They haven't, they've just delayed things. The problem is that once the habitats stuff has been completed (assuming it finds no reason for the road to not go ahead); will the finances set aside for this project still be available? They'd feckin need to be considering the amount that's already been spent!

In effect they have won because the finances will most likely be re-allocated to protestant road projects in the East of the wee 6.

It will then take years or even decades to move this project forward. :-\
