When crossing the border from Thailand into Cambodia at Poipet, do not pay more than US$20 for your visa. If they are not wearing a full Cambodian border agency uniform with a hat+badge, do not give them any money, walk away.

Similarly if the border agency men ask for 100Baht to process your application, go outside to the police and tell them what has happened.

Since the cops are equally crooked; they don't want uppity tourists hanging around to give the gullable tourists any ideas they put you at the front of the queue and you'll be on your way before those who actually paid the extra 100baht.
