I only heard that Martin Lynch's father was from Cahirciveen, and that Martin is related to Jacko. Is that sure?

Lad's I know this thread is only a bit of a laugh but have you noticed that every virtually every reason to like Kildare is non-football. I don't think many people dislike the county of Kildare, it's people, or town's that are in it. But a lot of people have taken agin your football team because it is perceived as disrespectful to the ethos of the GAA. If Donegal are considered win at any cost on the pitch then Kildare seem to be perceived as win at any cost off it.

Personally I don't like Seanie Johnston's transfer, McGeeney being paid a fortune, The county board having to get a bail out from Croke Park, the ridiculous over-hyping of Kildare football (mostly from people who aren't even from Kildare). As for the county of Kildare, it's people, or town's that are in it, from a personal point of view I have no reason to dislike any of it. In particular I have always found Kildare supporters to be magnanimous and friendly.

For all that,  Kildare never win anything. There is a ruthless win at all costs streak that seems to be married with an inability to win.
So it is hard to hate them. Schadenfreude is more like it.

Yep. Pat Lynch was from Kells and moved up to Clane and became principal of the school there. I think he's a distant cousin of Jacko.

Speaking of Jacko, his daughter and I think one of his nieces still play for the Kildare ladies. One plays for Confey and the other for Leixlip.

"More striking at the weekend was the level of hostility towards Kildare from other counties, as evidenced by – the admittedly imprecise measure of – public reaction on internet discussion boards and views communicated to public-access radio programmes".

Maybe it was all an O'Neill sting

I don't hate Kildare, how could you given their glorious failures of the last 5 years, loadsa potential and opportunity but through bad luck/ timing they don't have a single medal to show for it.

Willie Heffernan

Legend. We should have taken him in exchange for Tomás O'Connor. Or even just took Tomás O'Connor come to think of it.

The first motorway in Ireland was the M8 Naas bypass in 1983.
Strangely enough, some of this has since reverted back to a dual carriageway while most dual carriageways in Ireland are being re-classified as motorways.

The unionist gobshites- they only built the motorways as far as the Protestant writ went. That Motorway goes nowhere. Why didn't they build one to London/Derry ? Second city of the statelet.
