Great stuff O'Neill. Castro's biography of Garrincha is excellent

Bought the book on this advice. Quite a phenomenal real. Puts Best in the shade. Some budley on him it seems too.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

"I was born to play football just like Beethoven was born to write music and Michelangelo was born to paint..."- Pele.

Followed by

"If Pele thinks he's the Beethoven of football then I'm Ronnie Wood, Keith Richards and the Bono of football, because I have so much passion."- Diego Maradona.
The key to success is to be consistently competitive -- if you bang on the door often it will open

Maradona's treatment of Messi has undermined his legacy - I voted for Cruyff.
My hands are stained with thistle milk ...

How can so many say Maradona? Surely his overall rep is as much a facter as any? The amount of things he's done, hardly a good role model for youngsters??

I picked up Pele's autobiography in HMV for £3 on Saturday, started it on Sat night and got to the acknowledgements at the start and the first man he thanked was Sepp Blatter, I put the book back down again!

Unbeleivable that! Thanking Blatter? I've never heard anyone say a good word about blatter! Pele is like a toy for Blatter to play with, look at the FIFA100 sure.. Which Pele picked......yeh, sure he did.

I was lucky enough to have seen both Pele, best and Maradonna in their pomp, however Messi is by far the greatest player ever. Not just for his goals and individual skill but his overall contribution to the team.
