Millions of people drank themselves to death during the switch from communism to capitalism.
It's not surprising they are persecuting gay people. Bit of order on chaos, that is how it's sold. Doesn't happen here. The other typical options would have been to persecute women, political activists  or religious minorities.
If shes still around she better watch out for those skinheads..
