Hi all!

Réalt Dearg Hurling Club was founded in Terenure, Dublin in Nov 2009 with the short term aim of getting as many people who had fallen away from the game back involved in hurling as possible and the long term aim of setting up a self-sufficient club which is part of the community in Terenure and with full underage structures in place.

So far we have two adult teams in the cup, league and championship competitions, along with one team in the Leinster league. Last year our A team lost the championship semi to Kilmacud Crokes after extra time and then lost the League final replay after extra time to Clan na Gael Fontenoy. Disappointing but huge progress in two years and reaching the league final means promotion for 2012.

We realize that there are many lads out there who have stopped hurling due to work or lack of interest for a time or a host of various reasons. Once you stop it can be very hard to go back. Our club will always have a team entered in the junior divisions in Dublin suitable for lads who have been out of the game for a while to ease back into it and work their way back up the grades. It can be very hard to make it back home for training when based in Dublin. Eighteen months ago I was faced with the situation of either giving up hurling or joining a club in Dublin. I joined Réalt Dearg and never looked back! Whether you want to join up or just train mid-week and go back home at weekends, all are welcome, the more numbers at training the better!

We are looking for people to get involved both as players, managers, selectors, trainers and of course, loyal supporters so if you are based in Dublin do feel free to contact us. Contact details for committee members are on www.realtdearg.ie

Hi again,

Just a quick reminder that training will start back with Réalt Dearg this year at the start of February. First game is on the 21st Feb so if you are looking to get involved as a player and be eligible for first round of matches you should contact us as soon as you can by emailing realtdearg.hurlingclub@gmail.com or visit www.realtdearg.ie and go to committee and contacts section.

We would also appreciate people getting involved as managers/selectors for both teams!
