Bollocks Shane, besides the fact you didn't answer the question and avoided my other points, unless the child is deaf and blind he's going to know you are in the room and won't sleep.

What's the question?

Ahh forget about it. If you ever want to listen into a conversation after you've left the room, get one mobile, put it on auto answer, etc... etc.. etc..

ONeill

No.

You said  - So how to you get a child to go for a nap if you are in a family room and the child can't sleep with someone else in the room?

I said -

Ok, stay with your child. They're much more important than that extra drink or whatever that important alternative could be.

Result: You cannot do that.

It's got nothing to do with drink, but allowing the child a chance to get an afternoon nap. If the child doesn't get the nap then he doesn't survive into the evening and is so strung out he doesn't sleep during the night. When that happens he's cranky for two days after because his routine has been upset. Now I've already outlined all of this and you don't have an answer other than to stay in the room - which isn't an answer, as, go back to start to paragraph. Am away to bed as I get cranky without my sleep as well. Will maybe reply in the morning if you have anything new or constructive to say.

ONeill

That's fair enough. Stick a monitor in his room and enjoy yourself. It's important you have a good time.
