Wiggins hits the front today, lets hope he stays there!  Brits in 1st and 2nd, heady and unheralded days for British cycling, it's a good job it's a minority sport or you'd never hear the end of it.

some ride yesterday by cobo to take the red jersey.  you have to feel sorry for froome as he will have to give way to wiggins, another great ride by dan martin to finish 11th on the stage.

Jumping ahead to the final climb of the day which everyone has been waiting for, Alto de l'Angliru (12.8 km at 10%, max 23%). No, this photo wasn't taken from a helicopter.

Froome seemed to have a free hand today unless Bradley didn't feel up to pushing it for sprinting points, tomorrow will tell a tale I suppose.  Think there's tomorrow and Friday that are mountain stages Wiggins and Froome are going to give it a lash I'd imagine and try and grind them into the ground with a relentlessly fast uphill slog that mightn't suit Cobo.

Going to have a few £ EW on Jurgen Van Den Broek tomorrow - like Wiggins he wrecked himself at the TDF and has been rehabilitating himself at the Vuelta, cycling rightly but never really threatening to win a stage, he could have one in him so it's tomorrow or Friday or nothing - he's 50/1 tomorrow, a huge price.

some finish today.  Chris Froom did brilliantly to win the stage.  Attacked with about 2 km to go but Cobo caught him and went past him in final km.  Unbelievable how Froome responded on a 20% gradient to go past him again.  Great ride by Dan Martin to finish 4th, he attacked with about 4km to go and had about 20 seconds of a lead but got caught about 2km out, did really well to finish 4th in such a difficult finish

what a great final 2km and what a ride by froome to take the stage.  dan martin having a great Vuelta and was unlucky not to win the tour of poland.  great to see two irish riders doing well in these tours.  cousin dan seems to have the edge over nico, lets hope they both are inform come the tour next june

Slept in today bigtime, Euskatel rider winning in the Basque country, was a f**king cert - my man Igor Anton too.

Barring an accident it's Cobo's now.
