Dublin need to win this. Limerick don't really. If Dublin don't win it, it will set them back 2 or 3 years.

Couldn't agree with you less. We (Dublin) survived the trauma of the Antrim game last year to win the league this  year. The supply of talent coming through our underage system means (imo of course) that we will be there or there abouts for a while yet.
Having said that I will be bitterly disappointed if we don't win an underage title this year, or at least give a final a rattle.

As it now stands the talent in depth in the squad as a whole is nowhere good enough. This, I hope/think will change shortly.

We'll have to agree to disagree so. I think winning the league was an affirmation for the Dublin lads that they were progressing, this was diffferent. Then they struggled over Offaly, and beat Galway. All set up to face the Cats and take them in a Leinster final. Then they were shellacked. Not beaten, but beaten well.

Now Dublin were, and still are, short a few players but if they go out this weekend and lose to Limerick, how much real progress can they point to? Lost to Limerick in 2009, Antrim in 2010, and Limerick again in 2011, with a right beating from Kilkenny thrown in and a perception that Galway were operating in some sort of Fog in Tullamore.

I don't think it'd be fatal for Dublin, and I do think their progress is real, but at some point you have to get measurable progress. They need a semi final this year I think. Limerick do not.

Maybe 'setting them back 2 or 3 years' is an exaggeration, but it would certainly be a real anti climax on a year that started so well.

Forever Green

Predictions:

Limerick 1-21-2-16 Dublin
Galway 4-18-3-14 Waterford

Keaney out - big blow to Dublin, terrible for himself, and pure bad luck. What are the odds of this happening on the run up to the match

Reports are emerging that Dublin hurler Conal Keaney has suffered a leg injury after a motorcycle accident this morning.

According to reports on gaa.ie, the Ballyboden St Enda's clubman was travelling to work on a motorbike and was accidentally struck by a van.

As a consequence, Keaney will miss Sunday's All-Ireland quarter-final against Limerick in Semple Stadium.

Has to be said though that it is some turn around in Limericks fortunes since the debacle of last year and the way the team imploded. O'Grady took a massive chance and a lot of credit must go to him for turning them around, should they beat Dublin (and I Fancy them to,due too maybe Dublin's injuries) they will only get better next year playing again in Div 1. they have a lot of young players on the team who will be there for as long time, so like Dublin they have also been improving this year.

I think Limerick fell apart from the All Ireland whopping Kilkenny give them and it's taking a while for them to get back, surprising that they have done this while their juvenile teams have not dominated over the last few years. So it proves that winning those underage titles doesn't always guarantee that you will have success at senior
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea
