At the minute, Gaelic Footballers are being dragged in every direction by so many different teams with different priorities.

We need to have each competition running and peaking at the same time - for marketing reasons, for scientific purposes, and for rationale purposes.

Here are the proposed changes: http://bit.ly/ry12nD

So the club championship starts a week before the All Ireland quarter final and ends the week before the All Ireland Final - can you not see a problem with this?
That was never a square ball!!

It starts two weeks before Quarters and ends two weeks before Final. (The table probably isn't as clear as it should be)

I don't really see a problem, no. Because there is always a two week gap before county championship games (during club c'ship phase) and there is at least 2 weeks between each club c'ship game. It allows everyone to peak at the one time and helps ensure the club championship is most important as league is well wrapped up.

That looks a great idea. The club leagues in Tyrone were on a very similar basis this year and the players loved it. The only problems arose after the leagues had been completed and the playoffs took so long due to the club championship taking precedent.

Your proposal would negate this drag on the season. The all Ireland final would only affect 4 counties and they could bring it forward by a few days to suit.

Go for it.

Took the words out of my mouth Tommo. Cheers

I also think it's not right that some of the most important games are played in disgusting conditions on awful pitches. And I don't like how you can win the All-ireland for your county and then still have so much more work to do because all your fixtures have been postponed.

May well look OK for a football/hurling only county - try bringing both codes into that and you'll see how many external factors affect what dates are available for club games.

Then you have the Minor Championship to factor in, U21s blah blah blah . . . I agree our system is out of hand and it's admirable that you have outlined a way forward but the entire system needs to be overhauled from Club, School, University and County in both football and hurling. We are a long long way from that happening!

Yeah this winter training ban solves nothing - especially when you consider dual players, minor players who are playing for their senior team as well, freshers who can play for two univesity teams.

It's great that we're so competitive but there is honestly just way too much interests at that moment - and way too many competitions. And we all know that no matter what team we are playing for, we are made to feel like they are the most important and we should be giving all our priorities to them

A winter training ban is a good thing (if imposed) but it is only not respected due to the lack of enforcement. Sligo and Leitrim are both putting in a serious pre season at the minute and will train and play through December. No-one cares about breaking the rule and county board officials turn a blind eye. Either Croke Park pull the finger out and enforce it or abolish it.

Winter trianing ban is pile of dung.  It iwould have no legal standing whats so ever, and is impossible to enforce whether county boards or croke park turn a blind eye or not.  Leitrim and sligo are behind other top sides in terms of fitness and strength and conditioniong so fair play to them for trying to close the gap.  Im sure other sides like donegal and tyrone will not be doing as much during the winter because they have good base to start from.
