I was watching the Donegal Tyrone match on Saturday night. The English commentator with Ross Carr really made a mess of it. Supposedly Jimmy McGuiness has an "all ireland, ulster, donegal winners medals and was voted Northern Ireland player of the year." Also "the weather in Northern Ireland and Ulster was very good today."
Obviously his background research leaves alot the be desired if he doesn't know that the GAA is an All Ireland association. Why would Setanta have an English commentator on GAA anyway if he has no background knowledge.

The tit doing the Dublin/Cork game was no great shakes either; such a boring delivery and usually away behind the play.

The guy doing Donegal-Tyrone is Waterford native Will Downing who has a strong background in covering GAA

Jim McGuinness was part of the Donegal panel in 1992 so he would have got both All Ireland & ulster medals not sure about the Northern Ireland player of the year thing or indeed the weather.
The key to success is to be consistently competitive -- if you bang on the door often it will open

Just a wee query.  I took out setanta for the NL and recorded the Down & Mayo match on sky+.  When I went to watch it the recording stopped just as the ball was thrown in. Did anyone else have this problem?

I had a similar problem with the Armagh - Dublin game the previous week, I got the first 5 minutes and then it cut out. A problem with the published timing perhaps?
If at first you don't succeed, then goto Plan B

Could be, I'll maybe drop Setanta an email asking them.  It would need to work this weekend!!

You could use the old fashioned VCR and just set the time manually!

Have you taken the package out from northern ireland?  If so it could be the viewing rights issue.  Setanta Ireland and Setanta 1 can only broadcast certain events in the Republic - therefore if you are in Northern Ireland the broadcast cuts off.  Same happens with the English Premier League games on Setanta on Saturdays.

The Dublin Armagh coverage was spilt into four programmes when I went to Sky+ it, I just recorded all four programmes and it worked OK.
Keep your pecker hard and your powder dry and the world will turn.

Watching setanta via UPC in Dublin, it was the exact same issue, The game was split into 4 or 5 different "programmes", but when all were recorded, it worked fine

Probably I just recorded the first one, something to note for this week!

I've just set sky+ for sat night but it just seems to be the one programme.

Lads you think you have it bad, Setanta Australias first airing of the Down Armagh game is on the 4th March at 3:15am...wtf!?

It must be something the GAA could look into, surely it would pay to have a web channel for every game for oversees subscribers only, akin to Celtic and their online Channel 67?

In the meantime anyone got Skype that wants to point their camera at the tv while they're at the game sat night?
