A first meeting , hopefully we can get through this one LK lost a challenge game heavily to Galway last weekend. They have a decent qualifier history.

Longford should be able for this one . I hope they have learnt from the Wexford match.

We should have enough ammo here - esp as it's at home. Won't make it but I'll tune in on the radio.

You do realise that Roscommon are playing at the same time? There may be brief inserts in the middle of the Willie Hegarty Show but that'll be the height of it. Unless Newstalk oblige.

Limerick have a strong spine, with decent forwards - this will be a close one and hard won.  I fear the worst; we're not closing well - made very heavy weather of a poor Derry side.
My hands are stained with thistle milk ...

Hardy

Yes, I feel I should warn my Longford brothers that Limerick are not to be taken lightly.

Shamrock Shore

Hardy's warning should have been heeded!

Ah well, that's it now until O'Byrne Cup in 2013.

Congrats Limerick - by all accounts ye deserved to win.

Not at all surprised by this after Limerick's comeback against Clare (big comebacks are scarce these days)-will prove to be a tricky team if they can take an early lead as they seem to have great determination towards the end of a game.  Well done.

2 sent off. Hard to win after that. A bit of a disappointing end for the larries but they will be in d2 next year so hopefully they can keep the momentum going.

Firstly, congrats to Limerick, better side on the day...must admit I slightly underestimated them and I think Longford did to in ways....never settled, hit about 5 wides in first 7-10 minutes and never looked confident all day. Shades of the Wexford game in the way we couldn't close the game out what with being 3firstly 3 point sup with about 8 to play and then edging in front again entering injury time.

Again, cleaned out in midfield but didnt help that we kept hitting almost ever kick out down the middle against very tall and strong Limerick midfield. Subs didnt work and think Glen got a number of calls wrong, esp taking off our only tall midfielder in McElvaney and at least not bringing him back on for start of extra time.

Overall, disappointing end to the season, was very optimistic of progressing earlier today but not as disappointed tonight as after Wexford game as we beat ourselves that day while Limerick well worth their victory today.  :(

Puts a bit of a downer on what still was a very positive season's work by Longford. Limerick are a dodgy old team come championship, never a hot pick but plenty of times you see them in R3 or R4 or, of course, the quarter-finals. Longford's u16s are going great in the Fr. Manning Cup so there's a good few green shoots for Longford moving forward.

I hope at least two of Antrim, Tipp, Limerick and Leitrim get paired in R3 to keep the romance alive and well.
