I'll give him his due he's a good player and he showed enough in that 2nd set to say there's a lot more to come. Federer is in great form and showing the form we know he has. On his day he is the best in the world and Murray just caught him in a purple patch. Murray will have his time though I imagine and to me he looks as if he will be capableto win a Grand Slam. Ironically I think he is a hard court player and will probably have a better chance of winning the US or Australian rather than Wimbledon!

Ominous now Federer with a break of serve in the 3rd set.

Some people said Fed would never win another slam with the emergence of Nadal

He would say that himself, the US is his favourite Slam (another thing that annoyed some of the English media). Its Federer's night here, he really needed this Slam after the year he has had and 5 US Opens in a row is an incredible record. Dont think playing last night has helped Murray here but the way Federer is playing it might not have mattered anyway. An excellent tournament for Andy and another year of great progress, he can kick on and win one of the Slams next year.

Minder - Id say there are a few more Slams for Fed yet...

Shafted by a poor line call at 40-30
Indeed, but for that who knows what might have happened, still I backed fed for 3-0 so I was quite happy with that call ;)

Who?  Can't imagine anyone being dumb enough to say that

Pat Cash was one that said it, everyone is wise after the event. Federer hadnt threatened a performance like that all year and i think he is 27 which is reasonably old for a tennis player. Im sure he was looking forward to playing Murray as opposed to Nadal, even though Nadal has a reasonably poor record at the US Open.

Federer's gone in terms of being the elite athlete he was, mentally and physically. Still top 2 but more susceptible to defeat again lesser players.

In fairness when  Djokovic plays like that he is as good as anyone. The problem is he will probably get beat in three sets tomorrow.

I wouldn't back it, I have seen a lot of him in this tournament, from when he should have lost in the first round to his best mate to tonights game and he just seems so much better mentally than I ever remember him before.
I also think that Clijsters will hammer zvonereva in the most one-sided final in modern times
Get on them both at 2/5 and 3/1 or the 5/1 double if you're wild greedy, they should both give you a run for your money if nothing else.
