Folks, just been on the wireless that an Irish tourist is missing off the coast of Mackay in Central Queensland over here.  They were on a trawler when they fell overboard.  Search was called off at last light today and will be resumed in the morning.  I don't know the full details yet.
I worked in that area for a few months and unfortunately the waters around that part are full of nasties, eg sharks, salties and irukanji.  Not looking good. :(
To find his equal an Irishman is forced to talk to God!

Never beat the deeler

Hadnt heard that, but a quick websearch brings up another Irish tourist missing, this guy in Byron Bay:

That's an old story there deeler, don't know what became of that lad though?

Here is the one Aerlik is referring to: http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-national/authorities-refuse-to-give-up-on-tourist-20100913-15790.html

I hope they find him safe. God, I remember being blind drunk on oneof them Whitsunday boats a few years ago, I still have nightmares about what could have happened if I tumbled overboard etc..

Did see that story too, but coulda sworn that story in Byron had a recent date on it - must be losing the plot!!

Aye, hopefully they'll get him, though as Aerlik said there's all sorts of nasties in those waters....

Unfortunately the Air search has been called off ..

It seems like this lad was working on the trawler on a working holiday visa ..
