Right lads and lassies, need some help.
Currently living in a ground floor 2 bedroom apartment with a kitchen, hall, bathroom and living room.
Method of heating at the minute is economy 7 which is a right old pain in the gonads. Currently Phoenix gas are advertising in our area as possibly installing.
We've got a storage heater in the 2 bedroom, the hall and the living room. Ideally we'd like to replace these with normal radiators.
What's the procedure for doing this? What do we need to do? Get a water filled radiator system plumbed in? Any idea of costs or anything? We've got concrete floors at the minute too which I assume isn't going to make things easy.

You should consider Infra Red heaters. Depends on the size of your room but they are quite easy and uninvasive to install. However, if you go that route you should make sure you have no drafts or spots where a lot of cold air is getting in. I bought one from this crowd...

That definitely sounds good. Have never heard of them before. If you don't mind me asking, how much would each heater set you back?

If u are going for gas look at firmus rather than phoenix, they are expanding in NI and will be cheaper.
You can surface mount the piping if u want, less intrusive but doesn't look as well. If ur looking for a good quote I know a crowd in Tyrone that are reliable and competitive, send me a pm if u want the details.
Excuse me for talking while you're trying to interrupt me

They are expensive enough, maybe €600 each or something like that but it really depends on the size of your rooms, amount of windows etc. Give them lads a call and see what they recommend.

Yeah, but they definitely sound ideal. How do they work? On a timer or a thermostat?
Aren't they ugly mounted on the ceiling or is a case of getting used to them? Suppose anything would be better than the great monstrosity of storage heaters we have.

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help, I have just moved into a new house and having bother with the central heating.  The controller is a Danfoss FP715.

The main issue I have had is that for the past two nights I have turned the heating to the 'off' position at bedtime yet the upstairs radiators were still warm all night.  The downstairs radiators remained off.  There are thermostat controls on the wall in the living room for down stairs and the main bedroom for upstairs, and both of these are set to around 20/21.

That leads me to my other question - if I turn on the heating and say for example the living room thermostat is set to 18, will the heating only come on downstairs if the temperature is lower than 18.  Some days to have the radioators heat up I have to turn the wee thermostat dial until I hear a wee click, usually around 21 or 22 degrees.

Any advice welcome.

You sure the heating isn't zoned? On my controller I have Heating 1 for downstairs, Heating 2 for Upstairs and a third one for Hot Water. If they are all off the same controller heat will only go into the radiators when the room stat tells them so it may be that there was some residual heat in the upstairs radiators when you knocked the heating off.

Trying to get in touch with the fella who lived here before me to see what the craic is, hoping nothing is wrong and I will check with him to see if there is a frost thermostat that could be causing this.
