Apologies for the CAPS but its coppied straight from Mid West Radio's site

Mayo Ladies Senior Footballers back in the Championship

THE MAYO LADIES SENIOR FOOTBALL TEAM ARE BACK IN THE ALL-IRELAND CHAMPIONSHIP.
THE DECISION WAS MADE FOLLOWING A MEETING IN DUBLIN LAST NIGHT. THE MEETING WAS CONVENED TO EXAMINE APPEALS FROM THREE CLUBS – CASTLEBAR, CARNACON AND KNOCKMORE AGAINST THE DECISION TO PULL MAYO OUT OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
THE APPEALS HAD COME BEFORE CONNACHT COUNCIL A NUMBER OF WEEKS AGO BUT WERE RULED OUT OF ORDER AS THE CLUBS HAD NOT STATED THE RULES UNDER WHICH THEY WERE APPEALING PROPERLY.
THE APPEALS WERE UPHELD BY THE LADIES GAELIC FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION LAST NIGHT AND THE DECISION WAS MADE TO PUT MAYO BACK INTO THE CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE QUALIFIER STAGE.
MAYO WILL PLAY KERRY IN THOSE QUALIFIERS ON THE AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND –MIDWEST SPORT UNDERSTANDS AUGUST 2ND AND THE GAME WILL BE TELEVISED.
THE CONNACHT FINAL BETWEEN SLIGO AND GALWAY WILL NOW GO AHEAD AT A LATER DATE AT A SLIGO VENUE TO BE ANNOUNCED BY CONNACHT COUNCIL.
MIDWEST SPORT UNDERSTANDS THAT 2 OFFICERS OF THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE AT CROKE PARK AND 1 EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF THE COUNTY BOARD WILL NOW BE APPOINTED TO SELECT A NEW MANAGER FOR THE TEAM.

Sure there's no need for that as I hear they manage themselves.

Is that the same county board that withdrew them in the first place?
Strange turn of events

RedandGreenSniper

Yeah, it would be the same group off tulips Abbeysider. Surely some sanction will follow? Bet the Ladies board are delighted the men's scene is a mess right now. This will be one time when they won't complain about being the poor relation!

New Mayo ladies football manager interviewed
Ladies prayers are finally answered

Mike Finnerty (MayoNews)

"I CAN'T promise success but I will try and make them better footballers." These were the words of Fr Michael Murphy last week, speaking shortly after he had been appointed as the new manager of the Mayo ladies senior football team.
The 48 years-old Parish Priest of Roundfort took on the unenviable task last Tuesday after his name was put forward as an 'acceptable' managerial candidate by all parties involved in the bitter Mayo Ladies GAA dispute.
Fr Murphy is well-known in ladies football circles in the county from his impressive work on the colleges front with both St Joseph's, Castlebar and Mount St Michael, Claremorris.
He led both schools to All-Ireland senior 'B' championship glory and, ironically, Cora Staunton, one of the Mayo players in the middle of the recent stand-off with the County Board, was a member of Fr Murphy's backroom team with St Joseph's.
Speaking to The Mayo News last night, Fr Michael admitted that he was surprised to be offered the job and also outlined the reasons behind his decision to take it on.
"I got a phone-call from Croke Park [Ladies GAA Central Council] and thought about it for a few days before I accepted," he explained. "To be honest, my main consideration was my full-time job. Would I have the time? I have a lot of other commitments.
"The main thing that persuaded me to take it was getting the team back on the field, playing matches again. If I could do anything to help make that happen, that was the main thing.
"For me, the most important thing is getting relationships right. If you get that right, other things will happen and flow from that. It's all about building up a good team spirit and bringing some fun back into it."
The Mayo Ladies GAA Board will be appointing selectors, and a team trainer, to work alongside Fr Murphy in the coming weeks.
The squad trained together last Friday evening without the likes of Kathryn Sullivan, Fiona McHale, Caroline McGing and Nicola Hurst who have all departed for the United States for the summer.
The new manager is hoping that the rest of the panel will make themselves available for selection ahead of Mayo's meeting with Kerry in the All-Ireland Qualifier on August 2.
"I know there are seven or eight in New York, and I'm not expecting them to come back, but I would be hoping most of the others would," said Fr Murphy.
"I know Mayo have been out of competition for the last twelve weeks or so and a lot of the girls have gone off doing different things and made other plans. I would be hoping though they would join up with up us again and that we'd all do the best we can.
"There's no point in going into the past," he added. "We have to go forward, get stuck in, and do our best. That's all you can ask of anybody. You have to remember the bigger picture.
"Sport, like life, is all about balance. Part of my philosophy for football would be based around helping young players to read a game, to change things on the field."

Cosmo Kramer

What I've heard is that he's in because he's Cora's puppet on the sidelines. Apparently she effectively coaches the squad now, because she herself is uncoachable.

(I have no idea if that is true or not.)

Didn't they joint coach St.Jospehs Secondary School in Castlebar.

Its a shame that this is the level to which comment on this board has descended. It is not good enough that posters hiding behind their tag can publish scurilous innuendo about a named individual with nothing to back it up except the ruminations of their infantile minds. Ml. Murphy irrespective of whither he is a priest or not has a track record of involvement in the promotion of Gaelic games within Mayo. He was responsible for "hurling on the Green" in Castlebar some years ago and this year coached Mt. St. Michael's Claremorris to an All-Ireland Schools title. Cora Staunton can fight her own battles - her record speaks for itself. Fr. Mike is facilitating Mayo Ladies participation in the c/ship - something most of the supporters in the county wish to see. With a depleted squad it is a thankless task that he has undertaken. Perhaps the least he deserves is a little respect or .

Fair point Fr Mike mrhardyannual  ;)

I think that comment by Cosmo Kramer could be a bit exaggerated but the article doesnt exactly quench the idea when it talks of the irony of Cora and Fr Mike working together before.

In one sense Cora seems to be taking a lot of the heat as the instigator of the whole thing, but on the other hand the ones who did wave the red flag may have had a point in wanting high standards of coaching and training to bring them up to the level the likes of Cork are at.
