the outlets are a bit of a sham- the gear that they sell is not the same stuff that they have in their retail store- they actually are made by the same folk but with lower quality materials and less attention to detail...
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity

Heganboy - that cant bet true. As someone who has spent enough time being trawled through them - they are just last season stock (or the hideous design that tommy hilfiger should have known better than to make).

Pretty much all my clothing and sports clothing is from the outlet mall here in Reno. Quality is the same as I'd have paid twice the price for in Macys before the outlets opened.

As someone else stated, golf gear in the States is a fraction of what it is in Ireland, from clubs, to balls to everthing else!
That awkward moment - Not sure if you do have free time or if you're just forgetting everything!

Canalman

If you try something on in a shop/ dept store and it doesn't fit, tell the assistant and they will get you your size (no matter what). May take them a day or two to get in but they will get it. (Obviously no use if you aren't staying close by.)

Refreshing attitude  compare to the surly grumps working here in Ireland.

Some very nice "Irish" themed hoodies, t shirts, etc in the New York Mets/ Boston Red Sox products if you are so interested. Both teams I am told traditionally heavily followed by the Irish Americans.

Really?
How'd you go about getting the clubs home though? Would the cost of extra baggage , duty tax not make it as expensive to buy here?
Im in need of new clubs my ones are battered from hitting every second shot out of the trees :-[

Take them out while in the states and use them, when returning to Ireland tell the custums agent that you brought the clubs with you to the U.S. If custums inspects the clubs they will see that they are already used. This was what a few frinds of mine did years ago and they had no problem.

not foolproof- the father in law bought a set over here and brought them back through dublin airport. got pulled by the customs guy brought into the room etc, but he had the receipt which was under the allowable amount. Customs guy couldnt believe he had a full set of decent clubs and a bag for less than $180  ( http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=4074812&view=all) when he was out of the room and leaving the other customs guy was busting a gut laughing at his colleague saying he spotted you early off the plane- thought he had you, and was getting a big catch...

Had a quick look at dicks. My clubs are more expensive with them than when you covert to euros than you can get from say McGuirks here. I don't see too much value in buying clubs in the states at all.
