I haven't been to the cinema for a few months. I put the blame on the financial crisis and a severe shortage of inspiring plots. In the past a superior leading man/woman may have enticed me to go and see their latest movie.

Are there no longer any movie stars who can persuade us to part with our hard earned cash to see their efforts, regardless of the film?

Quite a few actors I like that would turn a film from a "meh, maybe I'll go" to "yup, I'll go".
None I'd go and see if they were in something I wasn't interested in.

New releases have been very poor for the last year and a half or so.

Yes but the trailer of a film is suppose to include the films best bits and qualities, if you can't sit through that you may look out.
Sounds like a decent plot but the actors are atrocious.
