Hard to believe that this actually happened.

I was heading to a match today, listening to RTE radio and this was being talked about. So I came home and read the entire article.

It's shocking to think that this is / was possible.

Wish they'd included the make of the TV, good reliability there.

Or the lecky company. Whatever happened to sending the bailiffs around to cut you off?

I don't find this story that hard to believe. I had a girlfriend many moons ago who had a peripatetic life. She'd spend a year or two in one place then move on, burning all her bridges behind her. If she were to die suddenly like this woman, I'd say the chances would be very high that no one would know or care that she was gone.

Maybe she had a direct debit in place for the utilities.

Grat word that. It meant you didn't have to write that you dated a traveller.

Was she like that before or after she met you?
All joking aside its a very sad case and shows the importance of community

I thought about making some quip about how maybe she had only burnt her bridges with me but then thought 'nah, let people have their fun" ;)

I don't know what the 'community' are meant to do for people who push people away. There seem to have been plenty of individuals who would have been there for Joyce Vincent had she kept in touch with them. But she died during one of those periods in her life between leaving one group of friends behind and making a new group. This doesn't tell us anything about modern society that should bother us

That's what I was thinking.

I've Heard of someone who lay dead in a London flat for a year, but I heard on the news a few months back about a woman who lay dead for near 40 years before being found. Think it was Germany or Austria or somewhere like that. 40 years, mad eh?

Was her wireless still playing when they finally called round?

Never beat the deeler

Sad story, but does anyone think its a bit creepy how involved the author got in the story - the bit where he's watching the video of the Nelson Mandela concert:
QuoteAnd then I saw her. It was Joyce, unarguably. She turned and smiled at someone behind her. Catching the light, her earrings gleamed. She turned back and I panicked, I had lost her.

Sad to think she left in such a state, imagine your daughter or sister or mother being left like that. Big city is a lonely place for some.
