Lurgan to Galway

Folks bit of help would be appreciated. From what I can see there are 3 main routes to choose from.

1. Via Enniskillen. Sligo. Claremorris
2. Via Dublin and straight across
3. Via Armagh. Monaghan. Roscommon.

Sat nav is saying via Dublin is quickest. Rac saying via Sligo???

Help please.

I would always head down the m1 and turn off for achnocloy, then head for monghan and down into Roscommon. That's the way the buses go and the roads are decent.

Via Sligo is the nicer drive but very tiring due to the poorer roads, same with Monaghan-Roscommon (not to mention having to pass through Granard). Smoother drive via Dublin and it'll feel shorter though up for debate whether it is or not.

Would have normally gone through Strabane / Donegal / Sligo to get to Galway but tried the M1 / M4 route recently and the journey is great - 2hrs from Dub to Galway - and that was when the weather was icy/cold.  Only drawback is paying 4 tolls each way.

Depends when and at what time you're going at, but if it's outside rush hour at all I'd be going by Dublin, no quaetion, motorway all the way to Athenry though the tolls are a pain.
