What bothers me O'Neill is that for someone who likes to quote poetry and give the impression he is very well educated, you then sink to having  a go at me rather than discussing the topic. Yip, I find that very shallow the way soccer boys go on... kissing the badge and declaring their love for a team. It's bullsh*t. Sadly the supporters who trapsed to Celtic Park or Parkhead, or whatever its called, at midnite, believe Keane. He'll tell the next set of fans the same drivel as well. SHALLOW.

1. Please don't let it bother you. That's encouragement.
2. I cut and paste poetry.
3. I got a D in GCSE Biology.
4. If you've just stumbled across your new theory now, don't google Santa for the love of God.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

I could be wrong but a mate of my used to go on about what a joker robbie keane was and he sighted keanes "speech" when he was 1st introduced to the press in Italy after joining Inter. My mate reckoned he said something along the lines of how when he was kicking ball around the streets of Dublin as a child he always dreamed of pulling on the blue and black of Inter. Anyone know if that is true.

Declan

Don't think it's any different than bullshitting your way through an interview saying you're great and you'd love to move to a new challenge etc.

The fox has a point. A person rents out his/her physical talent and part of the deal is to pretend to love whoever is paying for it. What's that called again?

Politics.

Why do soccer supporters believe this nonsense from players ...

Not to say that Robbie Keane is shallow and fickle but...

Keane on going to Liverpool (July 2008):
"To wear that shirt is an honour, and something I truly understand. I've been waiting for this day since I was a kid. Everyone knows I am a massive Liverpool fan, so to be sitting here today in a Liverpool tracksuit is a dream come true. I always wanted to be a footballer as a kid, but also to play for Liverpool."

Back to Spurs (February 2009):
"It was a difficult decision to make to leave Tottenham in the summer," Keane said. "It proved not to be the right move for me.
"I know some Spurs fans will feel I let them down by leaving but I can assure them I shall be giving my all for this club - this club has terrific fans and I want to repay them for all their support. We've got to get on and fight our way up that league table."

...and Celtic this week...
Keane was delighted having been consistently linked with the club.
"The club is massive," he said. "I am a Celtic fan and did not have to ask much about it. I always wanted to play for Celtic and it works for all parties."
Keane, a lifelong Celtic fan, has made 25 appearances for Spurs this season but has recently been confined to the substitutes' bench.
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp gave his blessing to the switch. "He is a Celtic man so it's a dream come true for him," he said.

ffs  ::)

You should go out to Tallaght. I'd say half the kids out there support Liverpool and Celtic so when Keane says he supported both growing up he probably wasn't lying.

Doogie Browser

Pointless thread, everyone I grew up with were mad Celtic fans (in fact a lot were just mad!) and had an English team though none of them were Chelsea fans as they are all self respecting Irishmen  ::)

I see in todays papers, Robbie 'I always wanted to play for Celtic, Liverpool etc,' Keane has stated he will be leaving Scotland at the end of the season, presumably to sign for another team he always wanted to play for...

As was to be expected since he was only there on loan to the end of the season. What's your point?

Or maybe because Celtic can't afford to make the transfer permanent.
