if the first year of existance was the year 1, the end of the decade was the end of year 10, therefore the next decade starts in year 11..... and so on and so on, quite simple really. Someone tried to explain this to me at the millenium but i didn't understand......was 28, single and full most of the time. Now i,m marrried, a dad and more sensible (well, 2 of those anyway), i have caught on

But sure the first year of existence "Year 1" is 0-1 (time starts at 00h00m00s) "Year 2" is 1-2 and so on..... until "Year 10" which is 9-10. So a new decade begins at the start of Year 10, quite simple really!!!

surely a decade is 10 FULL years, therefore after the first year is over it is the end of year 1. So after 10 years is over it is the end of 10 FULL years.

so as it stands we have completed 2009 years. Divided by 10 it is 200.9. Not an even number. wont be fit to round it up to 201 until the end of this year. it isnt quite simple, its very simple !!

I cant argue with your maths lecture! ::) but my point goes back to the start of time. Yes a decade is 10 FULL YEARS. Time started at 0. So at the end of Year 9, 10 FULL YEARS have been completed (0-1,1-2... 9-10). So a new decade begins at the start of Year 10.  Yes your right it isn`t quite simple, its very simple.!!
