http://www.statistics.gov.uk/downloads/theme_compendia/UK2002/UK2002.pdf
While according to some other brits the area of the Irish part is
8,088
http://www.statistics.gov.uk/downloads/theme_compendia/UK2002/UK2002.pdf

Which give 21,664

What'd you mean by that part??

What, both of them?

I was being sarcastic.  A few posters here would have the 'you can't be British and Irish' view
it's 'circle the wagons time again' here comes the cavalry!

According to Wikipedia (i know - dubious)

The area of northern ireland is 13,843 km²
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_ireland

whereas the area of Ulster is 24,481 km²
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulster

That suggests that Ulster is nearly twice as big as northern ireland. Who has fouled up?

'Nearly twice as big' doesn't tell the whole story. If we assume both figures are correct, NI's 13,843 km² represents 56.5% of the area of Ulster, leaving the remaining 43.5% in the Republic. Looking at a map and seeing how big Donegal is - I'd say it's as big as any two other counties combined - this doesn't seem unreasonable.

Just looked at Irelands 3'rd & 2'nd biggest counties Mayo 5,585 km² & Galway 6,148 km², with a combined total of 11,730 km² are not much smaller than the combined Northern Ireland.
