Absolutely nothing,I hold no grudge towards him and think he is a decent manager.

But I'm not sure he would be cut out for one of the "big" clubs,I say that with no disrespect to Aston Villa, but at Anfield despite it being 2 decades since they have won the league the fans still expect Liverpool to be challenging for the title every year,Villa are happy with a Top 5 or 6 finish.

I personally don't think his time at Celtic should be used as a benchmark of how good O'Neill is,I reckon I could get Celtic to finish in the Top 2 in Scotland, also I don't like the way he is so jumpy all the time on the sideline,It seems to me he doesn't handle stress to well.
His time at Celtic is only one of O'Neill's benchmarks. And no, you would not have gotten Celtic to finish second when O'Neill took over at Celtic. In 2000, many experts claimed that O'Neill would even struggle to finish second, that Advocat was a tactical genius, that Rangers man for man were light years ahead, that ONeill had bought a dud in Sutton to replace Viduka. etc etc.

Liverpool looks to be a football equivalent of an asylum, massive debt, poor enough squad, erratic management, unstable ownership, unrealistic expectations, in other words it would be a downward step for O'Neill.

QuoteIMHO Hodgson would have far more experience and better able handle the expectations that a job like Liverpool would have, yes sure Liverpool have been well below the Top teams this season but I don't think anyone will argue that they are still a top club with expectations higher than the likes of Villa.
I've respected Hodgson for a long time and he was my first choice to manage Ireland  (ahead of Trap) when he was finished with Finland. I wouldn't go overboard with what he has achieved at Fulham with getting to a Europa final. If he wins it then fair enough. Same way the media overhyped MON, they are overhyping Hodgson. In his management CV, his outstanding feats (especially in Sweden) are also dotted with average jobs.
But Hodgson has a good record with working with an inherited squad and doing well, also has demonstrated craft in European games.
The task for Liverpool fans will be adjusting their expectations to a new reality.
