It was very refreshing to travel to Leinster Championship games away from Croke Park this year. The atmosphere in Portlaoise, Carlow and Tullamore this year for Kildare's championship games was terrific (albeit helped by splendid weather each day).

Bringing the Dubs out of the big smoke to Wexford, Kilkenny, Tullamore, Navan, Portlaoise etc would bring a bit of buzz back to the province that's been lost over the past few years. Nothing worse than having 30,000 lost in a deserted looking Croke Park. The same crowd would pack out a provincial venue and the atmosphere would be electric.

we don't have a problem with travelling. Every other county gets to travel to games and have a bit of craic- even going the night before. We never get that. i've a pain in my hole with the current routine and wouldn't mind not playing in croker until the last 8.

I never said they'd have a problem with travelling Indy  ???

The Dublin teams of the 70s and 80s were battlehardened by having to go on the road to Newbridge, Navan, Portlaoise etc. If you look at the stadia in Leinster now; O'Moore Park, O'Connor Park, Wexford Park, Dr Cullen Park, Pairc Tailtean and Nowlan Park are all capable of holding around the 30,000 mark. DCB should be looking to enter into home and away agreements for the early rounds of Leinster with these counties (maybe not Kilkenny!). They'd be in greater risk of getting turned over in the early rounds but it would benefit their team immensely IMO.
There's Seán Brady going in, what dya think Seán?

wasn't directed at you DH - more the martin breheny's of this world- general observation. I'd love to go on the road personally. I'm fed up going to the same boozers pre-match at the same time every sunday in the summer.

Its none of the Dublin chairmans business. Its the provincal council that should set the agenda not some guy who is afraid his team will be embarresed.Tell him mind his business , I hope there is more to the GAA and this obsession with money and the Dublin team. The Dublin team are the sons of the culchies who settled in the city and run the various clubs to this day.

On reflection: Dubs for Croke, Dubs for Croke, Dubs for Croke, Dubs for Croke, Dubs for Croke, Dubs for Croke, Dubs for Croke, Dubs for Croke, Dubs for Croke, Dubs for Croke, ...

Oh Johnny.

Gerry Harrington was asked a question in response to the Wexford's chairmans prior declaration that the match be held in Wexford park.

If anyone should mind their business going by your logic, it should be the Wexford chairman.

It would be fantastic for both Dublin and Wexford. Wexford Park gets filled, Wexford, Enniscorthy, New Ross etc. get packed out with travelling supporters, bring a big buzz down around Wexford. It could give Wexford that little extra push to turn over the Dubs. For Dublin their supporters will get a weekend away, the real Dublin fans won't mind they have shown that in Longford and Thurles, and their hardcore in places like Cork, Castlebar and Tralee in the league. The Dubs can start the year away from the circus that is Dublin in Croke Park. When either team gets back to Croker it will because they truely deserve to be there. I think that has been a major driving force beind the relative success of Connacht, Ulster & Munster teams getting to play in Semi-Finals and Finals over the last decade.
Time to take a more chill-pill approach to life.

hope it's in Wexford park as well .That game in Carlow was on the afternoon after the Soccer world cup game against Cameroon - great day out altogether. The traffic at the beehive will be some craic!!!
