County. Not even a doubt.

Saw the club win one and lose one.

Losing the club not as hard as losing  any of the 5 times I ve seen county lose[ 6 times if I include a draw that felt like a loss after blowing a winning lead]

Winning a county would beat the devil out of hell.

I'd have to disagree - seeing the club lose in 99 after blowing that lead was the lowest I've ever felt after a football match. That said, the sheer unbridled joy at seeing them get over the line 2005 would not be beaten by seeing the county reach the summit. I don't think that could ever be replicated to be honest.

Just goes to show. Two people within a mile radius, probably, being poles apart on this one.

I remember being ott in 05 but there s still an awful chasm there for me for 89,96,97,04,06. Even if we won the big one now its probably too late for likes of me. Too late to exorcise the old traumas. A big win now more a relief than a celebration.

Another question would be (perhaps for a different poll), which final 89,96,97,04 or 06 hurt the most. For me it was '96. Maybe I was too young in '89 to really appreciate that defeat but losing that '96 final made me depressed for weeks.

1996 - it was the only one we actually deserved to win, or at least should have won.

1989, we could have won
1996, we should have won...twice
1997, we didn't deserve it
2004, as above
2006, as above

Never beat the deeler

I think when we won the club it was my happiest sporting occasion by a country mile, but as we had never experienced the crushing defeats a la the county team maybe there's another dimension that would be added if I ever saw Mayo lifting Sam.

In theory, the club means more to me, but in practice with recent history, county would now take on much more significance...

Here's hoping I get to compare the two

Having seen both definitely club.  I thought that the excitement just watching a club final win would not be as exciting but the games against the Crokes in 2007 were just as exciting as the Final wins before.  Armagh was special but the slight sense of detachment meant it was just the same.

BTW, I can never let 1999 lie, how the feck did you not win stephenite?  That was the sweetest of them all for me.

Who needs an all-ireland?

To get my hands on the o'neill cup id trade everything i own, everyone i hold dear, everything i hold dear and the crown f**king jewels on top of the whole lot.

There is something about the Tyrone championship that makes it very special.

Have to agree with stephenite one of the best days of my life was the day we won the Ai club in 2001  the night Andy Merrigan arrived in Cross will long live in the memory also as regards loosing Finals defiinately more upset after loosing the club in 2003 than any of the mayo losses even though they were bad. One of the Kikenny Hurlers Adrian Ronan (i think) said before the 2001 Hurling final that he would give up his intercounty Ai medals and he had 4 or 5 if he could get his hands on 1 club Ai says it all really (athenry beat them in the final ) having said that i wouldn't mind seeing mayo win one just so i could compare the two

Club by a mile. It has even got to the stage wher I would not be too concerned about Tyrone getting put out of the championship as it would get the club Championship up and going again instead of it being run off in a hurry in October. :-\

If we ever won a club title I'd get nothing productive done for a good fortnight

I'm in the same bracket as regards moysider. I was only 2 in 89 but seen as the 2 neighbours won club AIs it'd be nice to win one as well.

To answer bodmors question, it's definitely 96. And would love to get revenge on those Meath b**t*rds sometime!

County for sure, and it looks like not as unrealistic target as people think. If Maye comes through and the bones of this yrs team stay on will be a hard nut to crack next yr, bearing in mind all the management stay on.

From an amalgamated club of different rivals so doenst mean as much to me.

FL/MAYO

County probably because I am over here so long and have little contact or knowledge with what is going on in the club scene anymore. Seeing Mayo win an All Ireland would be very special.

I would put winning a club county championship for a player on a par with a county all ireland - but i think the club all irelands aren't the same as a county all ireland.  It's probably because many clubs (definitely smaller clubs) are content with their county win and whilst progressing further in the provincial/all ireland series is nice, many see it as a bonus.
Of course for the likes of Cross and Nemo etc they're setting out to win the all ireland from day 1, most clubs however are trying to peak in their own county series, like everything else, success is relative though.

Certainly was John - we made up for a few bad days in Croke Park that night.
