10 foods to kiss goodbye

Nutrition Team
When trying to lose weight, an occasional slip off your diet wagon is perfectly fine. No one is perfect and a little indulgence is good for keeping you from slipping down that dark alley known as Binge Street. But some foods not only have no nutritional value, they also aren't worth the damage they do to your diet.

If you've been around the dieting block, you probably know that giving up certain foods can make you want them even more. For this reason, nutritionists agree that a healthy, sustainable eating plan allows you to eat practically anything in moderation.

However, there are some foods that just aren't worth the damage they do to your waistline. (Don't despair, there's always a better alternative.)

Here are 10 foods that we recommend kissing goodbye:

1. Doughnuts ..... hate them

2. Real mayonnaise .... a must on a chicken sandwich

3. Ciabatta Style Pizzas Ciabatta ...... very rarely eat pizza (childhood memory of choking on cheese)

4. Hot dogs.... a must on match days

5. Deep fried cheese ....(childhood memory coming back to me now..... barf)

6. Fizzy drinks While technically not a food, .... use to have an addiction to coke a cola but have cut down big time

7. Cinema popcorn .... has to be done ... however not pleasant when most of it falls down your top

8. Crisps and Dips "Once you pop, you can't stop!" .... they are a curse

9. Full fat salad dressing .... nah don't like them

10. Bacon Cheeseburgers ..... again with the cheese....

how am i not super skinny... and i don't like chocolate!
I'm trying to decide on a really meaningful message..

Not to be too general but a lot of Irish people seem to load up on Carbs, anytime I cut out all bread, beer, ice cream for ten days- two weeks weight falls off. I have egg whites in morn, salad for lunch, steak or veal chop in evening, boring but it works. I like wine and after week one will resume consumption.

Like I lot of people I am a stress eater, lots of that to go around over past year.

how do u cook ur egg whites???  is it  a tasty snack

very bland, fried with no oil, do not add salt or any other shite. whole point is to lower carb intake with minimal fat. I would not go crazy, but after a few days on a lower carb diet, appitite is pretty low. after two weeks, it is all about eating less on a regular basis. where i used to get cravings, i would eat some cheese.

I eat eggs minus the yoke for more protein
What's wrong with the egg yoke? (apart from the spelling!)

Cholesterol, mine used to be unbelievably high and eggs are very high in choleserol, the yellow part anyhow.

It is a lot lower now, still a bit high but not three times the national average.

QuoteI use Olive Oil when frying mince, chicken etc.  Is this a better option than other cooking oils or is there a healthier option

Yep, water. I generally fry with a bit of water in the pan rather than any oil and I don't notice any difference in taste. Mind you I'd rarely fry food and would generally steam or oven cook meat or chicken. If you're overweight then the diet is the key and you're only fooling yourself if you don't make dietary changes to lose weight.
