won league and championship medals at U10, U12, U14 and U16 with Mullaghbawn, won a Feile as well, and went to the All-Ireland series.
played for Munich Colmcilles in 2001-2002, and played on the same team as DFS1 in the RWC in 2002.
currently playing Senior football for St. Paul's, Co. Down, hence my name, and hoping to win a league or championship medal before i retire in a couple of years!  ;D

St Pauls....wasn't the most successful team of all time though that one was it  - we did well in the drinking competitions though if I remember correctly.. ;D

yeah, it didn't help that we didn't actually train as a full team until the night before the tournament started, and then we went drinking EVERY night, and it wasn't just a few pints either!! good times though, and made a lot of good friends that week!!

well it didn't help when we tried to train in the Hague after one of the tournaments we were barely able to walk after kicking the crap out of each other the day before!!! I thought our best training session was in the Barge on the Sunday night learning everyones name and position....

yeah, my arms were wrecked after that session.....  ;D
were you at the training session after our tournament, and the bus broke down on the way back into Munich? that was some craic!

I don't know whether my arms were more wrecked or my head after being told I had to play midfield...
After the game against you guys and the celebrations in the evening I wasn't capable of moving the next day and heading training....

i meant my arms were wrecked from lifting all those pints on the sunday evening!!  ;)
you shouldn't have had a hangover from the beer after the tournament, the nectar of the gods that is was!!
are home now or still in Luxembourg?

I had a league winners medal, but I only played occassionally in the run up and did not feature in the final. Delighted but it is no great treasure to me because of this.

A senior panel with lofty ambitions have a large panel. There are a couple of horrendous players bringing general standards down in training, Considering there are b teams, is it acceptable to call a panel and tell these lads not to come?

INDIANA

A squad wins all-irelands mate- a team won't get you there. A team might get you a county championship but it won't win you an all-ireland. The subs we had in the years I was playing made the difference in keeping the training at such a high standard. The years I wasn't playing I'd like to think I helped the lads push their standards on the pitch higher.
There were no terrible players on any of the senior panels I was on at club level. Every player of the squad had played county underage. That'll tell you how good the training sessions were. There are many excellent players on top senior clubs around the country who due to the prescence of county players in their positions rarely get a chance to show their worth. those guys are always the unsung heroes for me. I had more respect when I was playing for the guys who didn't play because its easy to turn up when you know you'll be playing.

Yes, see where you are oming from, but I am refering to players who are just well below the standard.

Every player played county underage? Must have been some team!

Corn I know what you are saying, some players just don't have it in them, you tend to find that they usually fall away after a while anyway.

corn02

Generally yes,

But if a player doesn;t fall away , is it fair to say to him that he is not wanted?

Harsy? Yes, but there is B football etc, it is a tricky one for club football.

the Deel Rover

I meant I turned up in the Barge and was looking to play fulll forward due to injury but got roped into playing midfield and had to contemplate all that bloody running....
The problem was if you remember the Lux Ladies etc we rarely just drank beer...it always ended up in sambuca's, baby guinness, vodka & redbulls, Long Island Iced Teas.....
Am in Sydney at the moment...been training a few times but its far to much like hard work with all the youngsters about and for some reason they don't seem to appreciate old style tackling etc...how people think when I am playing centre back they are just going to stroll past me I don't know  ::)
