i know if you open up your facilities to the community it increses your chances big time of recieving a grant but you (lavey) had the right man sorting this end of things as we took advise from the same man.

Rois

My home club is on their second big draw - the first one was back in 1998 and was £100 a ticket.  Top prize was £21k and my brother-in-law won it.

That was to develop their clubrooms, and substantial grand funding was received.

This time they're developing the pitch and have been turned down for lottery funding.  Not sure if there is any Sports Council money coming through.  They decided to run a £200 a ticket draw, first prize £100,000.  A target of 1,000 tickets was set but demand exceeded that, and I think there may be approx 1,300 tickets out there now (Norf correct me if I'm wrong).  The betting people see the odds as very good - there's a renowned Orange Order supporter in the draw for that reason!

The standing order scheme makes it more manageable and attractive - I pay £20 per month.  There's a monthly draw as well - top prize £1k or something.  But the big attraction is the top money.

(the club is at the bottom of the bottom division in Tyrone - a rural club with no recent success on the pitch)

Now in terms of trying to raise £4m for a county development...get back to me in about five years.

The fact they are promoting it as a cross community venture helped alot as well.

Yeah but the "No Huns" sign on the door did away with the good work.

opening of pearse ogs new changing room complex is this sunday with armagh taking on dublin.
funding came from GAA grant, council grant and club development draw amongst other things.
club development draw was an exellent idea making the club approx £40,000.
tickets are £260 and can be paid in full or on a monthly basis of around 20 quid a month.
there are monthly draws with prizes of £1000, £500 and £250 and a grand draw at the end which includes a brand new car, holiday, cruise, tv, £1000, £500 and £250.
