This story was on the front of the Irish News the other day, my 4 yr old took a quick look at the paper and shouted excitedly " Look Santa " when he saw the picture of Ronnie Drew :D It made me laugh anyway
Your 4 year old's a shrewd judge. A quick look's all I ever take at the Irish News too.  :)

No surprise really.

You have always give the impression that you're a reader of the Sun.
With grammar like that, I don't think you should be making disparaging remarks about Sun readers.  ;)

hmmm another 'fur coat no knickers' merchant I see - prefers syntax/semmantic language over actual or accurate decent content (of a post).

if people actually thought about what they are hearing from all the news/media/PR broadcasts by politicians/banks/unscrupulous (business)people
then most wouldnt be taken in and people would be in a far less precarious position than they are currently or have been.
Far too many shitehawks in this world that mislead people. Unfortunately normal (and good) human nature is to be believing of people - esp those in elevated positions.
Thats me digressing off on an irrelevant tangent - apologies-  but this spin thing is a pet hate of mine !

The Watcher Pat

I have got to the stage where I dont trust any one who works in the bank...(even my sister)lol

You hear about all the money the bank has got and puts you off a bit...Probably none of it has ever seen who i've been talking too but puts you off a bit...

well off subject but just trying to follow that last post!!
There is no I in team, but if you look close enough you can find ME

No that is not enough. The insinuations you make are obvious - either you back up your remarks or withdraw them.
What exactly is it you are complaining about?

In post #49, you highlighted my remark where I described you as a "parrot" who was "unsympathetic" to the plight of the McCartney family (whom you had introduced to the thread). I withdrew the "parrot" remark, but not that about the lack of sympathy, since imo you were self-evidently so.

Now you appear to be complaining about (unspecified) "insinuations". Am I to assume that this is a reference to some sort of link by me between you and Begley?
If so, then I had hoped I had made it perfectly clear in my most recent reply to you that I am not linking you to Begley. Indeed, I would guess that you have no more sympathy for the death of Thomas Begley than you have for that of Robert McCartney (though if I am incorrect about that, I'm sure you will put me right).

Anyhow, I was linking Adams, the most notable public figure in the Magennis's bar incident, to Begley, in an attempt to contrast his and his party's reaction to the death of a murdered man (McCartney) with that of a murderer (Begley).

P.S. Just so as everything is perfectly clear, neither am I linking you directly with Gerry Adams.

That's a load of bollocks as bad as anything I've seen on here since some dick connected the GAA with the Madrid bombings. If you are refusing to withdraw all of the remarks, the mods will have to deal with it.

I don't see what you're offended by in this man's posts donagh?

Donagh is getting an unfair deal here. Robert McCartney's sisters did weigh into the controversy over the name so Donagh's comments were fair game. They should get on with their quest for justice if that's their aim but it's unfair to keep sullying the name (whatever it may be) of the bar when it's hard enough making a go of a business at the min.

He freely admits that he made is comments before he knew it was anything to do with the McCartneys

Donagh's first post on this topic was Life moves on, get over it... , which shows Donagh does not have much sympathy with the family.  If you prang your car you can move on but when your only living brother is murdered in cold blood and his young children left without a father it's not as easy to move on especially when his murderers are still walking the streets freely as no one in the bar that night is prepared to say what happened.

The new owners where extremely naive to buy McGuinesses bar after what happened, I do feel sorry for them that it is not doing well but I doubt it will ever be as popular as it was.

It does not indicate that. It indicates I think they are wrong to be running to the papers about the naming of this pub.

Again, you posted your comments before you knew the McCartneys were involved

Fair enough if you have a source - why did you come on the thread with the "don't tell me.... the mccartneys" line?

I didn't have the source but it wasn't exactly rocket science to work out brains.

And? That indicates I knew immediately it was about the MCCartneys - whats your point?

Jesus LB the original post was about a four year old child thinking Ronnie Drew looked like Santa! What was he spinning?!

the post contained two distinct parts (apologies if my writing didnt make it clear)
First part commented on the poster and a few like him who seem ton concentrate on making what they look 'nice' with lovely language, but this usually is completely off point and people think that because its well written etc that the point must be correct etc, when in fact its either off point or more full of holes than a cocaine addicts nose.

second part was me going off on a rant having been reminded from replying to that post of the way the world works-  about how so many people are taken in by unscrupulous people, people in positions of power or responsibility, many of which are 'revered' trusted or respected by the ordinary punter only for this trust to be unfounded as the banking/financial/political/retailers/medical profession/services industry fleece us within inches of our lives. That spin these people put on in order to carry out their sick predatory untertakings drives me nuts.
eg the banks or these telecom/services/insurance companies that prey on the oaps etc.I admitted it was way off topic but felt like adding it in there !
Watcher Pat caught the gist of it, he outlined the tip of the iceberg - the banks, there are more and worse examples than these !
