My sister had a MG written off by Quinn direct last year. It was valued at £7500 but they only offered her £5000 to start with..Think she got £5800 in the end but no where near the market value at the time.

Treasuer get a letter from the garage/mechanic who serviced it to say it as in pristine condition.  They will then give you TOP book price.  Best you can do.

Not exactly a write off, but I don't think the insurance company would have covered it anyway. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSFDd-v7Pic

Can't see a letter from a garage changing an insurance company's mind to be honest. If it's a write of they'll send an assessor out to look at it. And the valuation will be based on that. Also I'd be surprised if any insurance company will pay top book on any vehicle.

it'll all depend on vehicle condition when it was running. I had a yoke written off and insured for £6000. Insurance paid out full whack minus the excess of £135!!!! ;D

Yeah it goes on the condition of the vehicle pre accident. But this will be determined by the assessor when he /she views the vehicle. A letter from the garage won't make any difference to the assessor's report.

Just be careful saan, i hit a taxi who had just pulled out infront of me and he admitted it to the cops and i thought this is straight forward but about 5 days later i got a letter from his solicitor's claiming for whiplash and loss of earnings. The fool lost his case but it draged on for over a year and then there was another year of fighting with the insurance company over the excess...It's great to be insured but it's even better not to have an accident...(the we man in the peking told me that)
