Billy powell died on wednesday and I know this isn't a music forum, but as an absolute skynyryd fanatic I just want to pay tribute to an absolutely innovative rock  musician on a site that's not solely american. I know that every paddy that ever headbanged to sweet home alamba or freebird would want to know that the virtuoso that played on those songs has passed and gone to join the rest of the tragic lynyrd skyryrnd members who have gone to the other side.  ' I must be travelling on'http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=u_vmW0AVZ0o

I am a HUGE Lynyrd Skynyrd fan since 1977, one of the best southern rock bands EVER!!!!

Although the headbanging bit is off track with their music, more of a rockin country genre.

"Gimme two three steps" top 10 songs off all time. (under the influence last nite, typed it wrong)

Some serious hair and facial hair back then.

Saw them a few years back with Deep Purple in the Point. I went as a DP fan with a small interest in Lynyrd Skynyrd but they blew a jaded Deep Purple off the stage. They were a phenomonle live group and really some great tunes. Best southern rock band there ever was! they have a small European tour scheduled i wonder will it go ahead.

RIP Billy
