No, bogball, if my memory serves me right, from seeing this game, on video, a few years ago, it was Derry who were leading by 8/9 points, at half time.
Monaghan buried 3 goals and went 2 points up.
Bateson scored a goal, to put Derry a point up.
Monaghan got a late point for a draw.

And, as far as I remember, it was Gerry McClorey reffing it.

You're right, but that was in 92, and not 93. Derry won the replay, then dumped out the holders Down before losing to 14-man Donegal, who did little of note after that.

They then beat us by a point two weeks later in the league Final

And minor final for Eglish vs Coalisland in 97. 7 points down at half time and a man down from the 10th minute or so and managed to turn that into a win to complete a minor championship 2 in a row.

what memory's do you have of your team getting out of a match with a win or draw,i remember derry v monaghan 1993 and derry went on to win the all-ireland,down v derry 1991,down kick a last minute free to draw and also go on and win the all-ireland.my own club bellaghy have had a couple of great escapes against dungiven and slaughtneil and went on to win the championship.

Your memory, my friend, is playing tricks on you. Derry beat Monaghan handy at Casement Park in 1993.  

Wasn't that handy, Brolly came on and turned the game round, nailed down the problem corner forward position and was instrumental in Derry going on to take their one and only all ireland.  Drum is most likely referring to the year prior where Monaghan were giving Derry a wild stuffing 8/9 points at half time (Stephen McGinnity?) but Derry fought back to draw the game.

Correct and right, brilliant game, I was at it. McGinnity scored two of the goals. I think Monaghan beat Cavan that year in the first round with Ray McCarron scoring a wonder goal.

Correct and right, brilliant game, I was at it. McGinnity scored two of the goals. I think Monaghan beat Cavan that year in the first round with Ray McCarron scoring a wonder goal.

Thats right, that game also went to a replay,first game was in Castleblayney,Donal Keogan hit a late free to equalise then Monaghan came to Brefnie Park on a pissing wet day and Ray McCarron nearly bet us on his own.Think he hit 2 goals that day.
On a Cavan side,Anthony Fordes last minute equaliser against Fermanagh in Clones in the 1st round of Ulster in 1997 will live long in the memory.
