and some sicko lit a massive bushfire that destroyed many homes and livelihood, but fortunately no deaths.

Whereabouts is Carnarvon again? I think I may have been there, on the Perth to Broome road is it?

It seems that every morning you wake up there's another weather related disaster in another corner of the world. 2011 has been treacherous so far.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

certainly could.  rivers in  northern australia regularly rise between 10 and 20 metres.  Anyone who has been to Katherine in the Northern Territory or Fitzroy Crossing in Western australia will see how high the waters rise.
