On Up for the Match, the guests were asked who they thought would win the All-Ireland Final. All said Kerry, which is fair enough. However Carr said that he would love Kerry to win as there is no better man to lift Sam, but Galvin!

Unless Feale Rangers win the County Championship Galvin wont be captain. If they retain the title it could still go to another North Kerry player..however, having said that, he is the only established Feale Rangers player on the Kerry panel so it would most likely be him.

Well it was for this year. Galvin was Captain.... well until he got red carded. Carr didn't think of that.

I didn't have a problem with Carr thinking Kerry should win, I just thought there are better role models on the game that Galvin.

The method of picking the captain has been the same for years and indeed causes a lot of debate down in Kerry . As for Role models .every team has guys who are great role models both on and off the pitch but no team has 15 angels

Give us an example of who you consider a role model so ?

Maurice Fitzgerald   Great footballer  pity we didn't see a lot more of him

Not looking forward to next year. Much as it pains me to say it, Galway will beat us in Salthill again. Not that it really matters cos somebody will come through the backdoor and win Sam anyway... :(
Inaugural Football Championship Prediction Winner.

Obviously you dont expect the backdoor team to be Mayo  :o
We would be hoping to maybe win a first round game v Leitrim or Sligo ,then give a dacent account of ourselves v Galway/Mayo; win a qualifier game and then bow out with another dacent account.
Expecting anything else would be delusional till at least 2010. :(
Davy's given us a dream to cling to
We're going to bring home the SAM

I'd like us to avoid the bloody preliminary round for a change. 3 years in a row we've been in it. I think a rule should be introduced that says  the team that is in it should not be allowed in it the following years. After that a home draw against anyone is what I want. A home draw against Monaghan would be a "nice" start alright.

Isn't there some dire statistic about the success (or lack of) for teams that get drawn in the preliminary in Ulster - and i mean a statistic more dire than having one extra game should result in.

A nice summer trip to Cavan wouldn't be the worst either. If it was to be an away game, somthing close to home is next best thing. It generally means the home team doesn't have the same crowd advantage.

I believe that when Armagh won ulster a few years ago from the preliminary round they were the 1st team since Cavan in the 30's to do it. Definetely being in the preliminary round does widen your odds of being Ulster champions (as if being Cavan wasn't bad enough way to widen your odds)
