Thats the thing though seanie, I can't even get the f**kers in!! I keep blinking like f**k then dropping them! Its the worst... Then I get angry and wanna hit things! I'm such a hard nut

Firstly this is not unusual.

I had to go to specsavers 3 times to prove I could put contacts in. With specasvers they have to sure you can do it before theyll let you have them. I was shown all 3 times and there is a nack.

When putting in the left eye make sure right are and hand come over back of head, push in on the upper eye lid with 2 fingers, make sure your pushing in a little while lifting the underside of the eyelid. Then have the contact lense on your left hand finger beside thumb on the angle, have bottom eyelid pulled down with middle finger and push lense in with a force, wait till it sticks. Even now it sometimes takes me a while but nothing like at the start. 5mins tops... make sure the mirror is clos to you so you can see what you doing.

Monthlys are easier to take out than dailies. Best of luck but if you persevere you will grasp it.

First thing I would ask, are they hard contact lenses or soft contacts? When I first got mine, I tried the hard sort for a week and they had me crying constantly! The soft ones were/are much better.
Generally as far as putting them in goes, I hold the bottle lid with my ring finger, top lid with my index finger and put the contact on the tip of my middle finger (hows that for detail! ;D)
The newer types of lenses that can be worn day & night (optional, I don't wear them when sleeping) are very breathable and comfortable. Make sure the optician is giving you a few different options (daily, weekly, day & nights etc) so you know which is best for you.
My last piece of advice, is when you get using them a while and have a set that suit you, buy them online (postoptics etc), as you will save a fortune if you wear them a lot

Hope that helps

Yea Sligonian seems to have given you good instructions there, defo put the opposite arm to the eye you are putting the contact in over the head, pull the top of your eyelid back by holding the eyelashes back, pull the bottom eyelid down using the index finger and have the contact on the middle finger, put it in let it settle and look up down left and right a few times before gently letting go of the eyelid.  Hope that helps!

Yeah I have got mine outta specsavers and have to go back next thurs to lift my new glasses and also have a contact update! Don't wanna be going in and saying that i havent got them in all f**king week!

I just get really frustrated easily...

As for the methods there thats the way the fella was showing me using the one hand for everything (cheeky!) holding and putting in... I have so far been holding my eye open with one hand and trying to put in with my right hand...

All noted for when I get home

f**k I am gonna have to start saving for the lasers!

Also they are soft monthly ones...

Nail you're the biggest drama queen on this board! You'll just have to get used to them. Your eyes are probably dry too. Stick some artificial tears in your peepers before putting the contacts in using sligonian's method. Use the opposite hand to pull up the lid and just place it on the eyeball. You're bound to lose them when you're steaming! The missus is forever losing round the back of her eyeball! Boke!

My initial contact lens experiences were similar, couldnt put the f**kers in for love nor money. First got them as an emergency when I lost my glasses! Went to watch a match in a bar in Spain ( first Armagh v Sligo in 2002) and could only put one in! i spent the entire match sitting with one hand over the lens-less eye, weird day! Now I could put them in whilst running in the dark , so it does get easier. Or you could just get laser surgery and be done with it  (I'm in the process of building up the courage)

Right I need some advice, help, anything really!!

I went for my eye test yesterday and said I wanted contacts...

So they brought me thru this rigmarole of putting them in then taking them out then in again then out then they asked me to put them in again so I could leave with them in but my eyes were stinging like f**k so I said I would just do them myself later

I tried last night for half a f**king hour to get them in, no joy

Then this morning before work I tried for fifteen mins, was near late an all this morn cuz of it

I just cant get used to sticking things in my eye, am always blinking! Is there any tips for putting them in or anything??!

I need help...

I tried them and had the same problem. Unlike the rest of ye I give up. I couldn't stand it. When I did get them in it felt like walking about with a stone in my shoe. The glasses are on full time now.

I hope you do better ONL.

Was back in specsavers picking up my frames (by the way the fella said they only had one pair ready, this was a week after ordering them, then the dickr ang me about fifteen mins later asking was i still in the shopping centre because he had found them! what the f**k! that was after having to stand about for fifteen mins waiting to get served definitely not impressed by specsavers)

Anyway your man asked me how was i doing with the lenses, I panicked and told him they were going great

:-[

Havent had them in once, havent even tried since last saturday! Hate the f**kers...

Makes no sense but can imagine myself doing the same thing.

I've often muttered about the poor service or food in a restaurant only to smile and say "lovely thanks" when they asked how it was at the end!
Ask me holy bollix

I remenber this feeling. I remember not being able to see and having to bright red eyes for my trouble. Put as is the way practice putting them in and you'll find the way. For what its worth I find, You get the lense on you index of your strong hand. Bring it toward your eye, using you middle finger pull down the eyelid. Try to put the lense directly onto the coloured bit of your eye.  IF your eye is getting all red and sore, stop, try again next day.
Pull hard and early
