My kid bro is moving over to Glasgow for work, his employer is paying for a flat etc.
Im trying to help him sort out a decent place in a good area etc .

Whats Merchant City like? Whats the going rate on a 2 bed apartment etc?

Merchant city would be like the TempleBar of Glasga.

all of it? Ive looked at quite a lot of places listed as merchant city, im assuming they are more likely to be near merchant city.

Where would you recommend looking? keep in mind that hes working on the new m80 so east of city is better, and would ideally like to be getting on the M8 before the congestion

I recommend the Gallowgate or Govan, for top class facilities conducive to a healthy lifestyle ;D

Seriously MerchanyCity would be fine, though I wouldn't class this as a residential area.

why not residential, its seems to be full of apartment blocks stretching down as far as the river.

Is it a good area investment wise? Im toying with the idea of buying a flat and letting his company pay me the rent.

He could also accommodate Celtic fans visiting for Champions League games of course, hint, hint, wink wink, nudge nudge say no more ;D

it would be pretty residential despite fearon, and investementwise a friend who would be pretty clued in has snapped up a number of apartments in the area as investements and speaking to him recently he was saying glasgow was one of the few areas of britian not to see an overall decline in property values, no increase of note either mind you!however glasgow is recieving a lot of money with the commonwealth games being held there, and there is already a markable improvement in the merchant city/buchannon st (sp) area!
