Then the Kiev Keeper allows a ball under him to spin across the goal line

Pity the Drogs didn't get Rangers.

I would say the LOI is superior to the IL as well.

The Setanta Cup would surely be a good barometer for this, with the IL having won it once with Linfield in 2005 and Drogheda the past two years...

FFS There is no comparison, the Eircom League is miles better. If an All Ireland league was formed tomorrow a Northern team wouldn't finish n the top four.

The Setanta cup is pre-season for the LOI clubs

The League of Ireland is certainly the better league.
I wouldnt guarantee as tony does that no NI team could break into the top 4 - Linfield would be in with a shout obviously - but there would certainly be more LOI teams with the chance of a top for finish than IL ones.

Linfield would certainly challenge. Linfield are a big club in Irish terms and Glens would be the tier below perhaps. Basically you have 4 clubs getting big investment by EL standards - Cork, Drogs, Bohs and Pat's. Derry would be more community based and wouldn't have cash investors to the same extent but are a big club in EL terms as they are reasonably well supported.
