I heard that too Indiana, but I'm not sure whether it would be a good thing or not. A lot of the problems that have angered me with this Offaly set up, were features of his time in Westmeath, not sure if they carried over to Longford.

Offaly need a manager who will instill discipline, and drop players if they need to be dropped. Luke might be a bit 'nice' for that, he always seems to want to be the players' friend.

I've also heard Tommy Carr mentioned. Any word on that up there?

It's vital, in my opinion, that a decision is made relatively quickly. As can be seen from this thread even, there's a lot of names around, so it should be possible to get a lad lined up. Our county managers are normally appointed around october or november, which means there's no chance to see club games. This year only one round of a league based championship has been played, so if a new lad was in place, he would get to see most clubs a few times, if he wanted to.
