If you read my comments at the time with regard to the GAA being asked to reach out to Unionism, I said it would be time enough whenever the schools started to play GAA games - obviously we are quite a long way away from this ( some would say, as far away as ever in fact ) !

No great surprises there !

The craic with Limavady Grammar School is that after trying to get into the school for some time it was agreed last week that Chris Collins could come in to meet with boys in second and third year to discuss including Gaelic Games as an extracurricular activity.
Apparently some staff and parents of of pupils at the school weren't best pleased about this and the prinicipal cancelled it.
I think there were about 50 boys over the two year groups who voiced an interest. Limavady Grammar would have a fair number of pupils from a GAA background and it's about time the were allowed to play at school. The wains at the school were fierce disappointed when they were told it had been cancelled.

. However, it appears that some senior staff threatened to resign if this took place and the prinicipal cancelled the training. This situation is an absolute disgrace, around 50 boys over the two year groups had expressed an interest and apparently there was also interest.

Is this not the same town that 15 or 20 years ago ran it's Presbyterian Minister out of the place because he called into the Catholic Church during Mass on Christmas Day and wished the congregation a Happy Christmas? - or as they put it -" entered the premises of Mr...... while a ceremony was taking place"
What a sad bunch of backward wnakers.
Is there no Catholic school in the vicinity?
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

The children were incredibly disappointed when they were informed of the cancellation.

"We have to protect our children from the evil that is the GAA"

yes, there is a catholic school within a mile of the grammar, but thats not the issue, the issue is that gaa is being prevented from the school, due to sheer bigotry, end of story

It's the only Grammar School in the town around 40 per cent of the intake are Catholics. There are pupils from the Faughanvale club, Glack, Drumsurn, Magilligan, and Limavady Wolfhounds. These kids should have the right to attend a Grammar school in their home town and avail of Gaelic games rather than having to travel 20 miles to either Loreto in Coleraine or St Columb's in Derry

That's right - but catholics were once upon a time not allowed to practice their faith, were allowed to own a horse, own land, have a house, weren't allowed to do all the things that protestants all had the right to !

Changed times in Norn Iron !!!  >:( :(

Is there not an equality minister up there that can step in. Hanson or something?

I presume all GAA people will keep their wallets well sealed if these bigots come looking for financial assistance.
