I really don't see why they got the Ulster Final, considering a good proportion of the province can't even get TV3!  >:(

That's what I would like too, if they were showing games RTE wouldn't probably have shown. But no, instead down the Connacht and Ulster finals go to their level. They better not mess it up, the shite coverage of soccer and rigby was bad enough.

The bottom line lads is that RTE chose not to pick the Ulster or Connaught Finals.
RTE had the choice of the First 20 games..... TV3 then picked the next 10..... and RTE the final 10.

RTE obviously concentrate their selections on the final stages of the All-Ireland Series, and the Leinster and Munster Finals.

Just the way it's working this year. In the long run competition will be good for TV coverage, but i feel TV3 will be a disaster over the first couple of seasons. (I cringe when watching Soccer on TV3).

I still feel Setanta deserved some sort of a package. (maybe another 10 games - ie Gamers 41 to 50). At least i feel Setanta might have brought some innovation to their coverage. I know this wouldn't have suited those without Setanta, but it would be games that would not have been shown anyway.

RTE always showed minimal consideration to the Connacht final down through the years. Always relegating it to the warm-up act for the Munster or Leinster final so no surprise that they let TV3 have it.

If there's a shower worse than the Black and Tans it's that shower above in RTE. I'm sure we're all ina greement about this! Cannot comment on TV3's coverage as I don't watch that channel. I will have to watch it now I suppose...

Did the FFers not pass something a few years back that stipulated major GAA games and competitive internationals have to be on free to air telly, or did I just dream that?

Didnt the GAA not declare that they were sticking with free to air coverage no matter what money Setanta offered.
I must commend them for doing so as I have no intention of buying Sky and then adding a Setanta package.

As far as I remember it was just AISFs and AI finals.

Nobody would force you to. But for the rest of us who do have setanta (and for those who could head down the local pub)....we would get an extra 10 games.
I'm not saying they should have any of the "core" games, but they do deserve something. They have added greatly to GAA coverage over the last few years (Club Championships, O'Byrne Cup games, Dublin Schools Games, etc, etc), therfore they deserve some rewards after supporting grass roots GAA fat more than RTE/TV3 have.

Also they may add some innovation to covering the games (maybe different camera angles, Hawk-Eye to determine flight of ball, etc). Ofcourse the one thing they still need to add is some decent commentators!!!!
