As all media says that it will pass, is there way that it may be more palatable?

How about giving the grant money that a player was due to his club?  Teams would see a benefit if one their players made the county team.  It would also be a payback to the club for all development of the player?

It would be interesting to see how the GPA would find this.

I'd say the grants are far from a done deal.

If it does pass, the money is the individual player's to do with as he pleases but i'd say you'll see quite a bit of players putting it back to clubs or training funds, etc.

That might be difficult to organise on a collective basis as on every squad there'll be lads struggling with mortgage payments, household bills, student loans etc and lads who aren't under pressure financially.

I'd say a lot of men will have a lot of debt from now on and who therefore won't be in a position to donate anything !  ;) ;)
